Heat efficiency and performance improvement

The challenge: Bungalow built in 1984.  Heating is via a regular oil boiler and radiators with microbore pipework.  Secondary heating is via an open fire in the living room.  Fabric upgrade has been completed previously.

Client Requirements: To make the house warm and comfortable by reducing the heat loss, improving the heat efficiency and improving the ventilation.

Works Included:

  • Air to Water Heat Pump with time and temperature control.
  • Replacement of microbore pipework and Installation of new pipework to radiators
  • Rads upsized to match heat loss
  • 200 litre factory insulated hot water cylinder.
  • Wood burning inset stoves.
  • Demand Controlled Ventilation System
  • Air tightness improved to < 3 m3/(h*m2 surface area)
